New Horizons

Believe it or not, but this little fella is also one of the fastest things on Earth. New Horizons was built by NASA and is currently on its way to Pluto, which is 3 billion miles away from Earth. It was launched in 2006 at a speed of 58,536 km/h which is 100 times faster than anything we’ve ever tried to get into space.

New Horizons is about to get close to Pluto, in fact, it is the only spacecraft to ever get this close to the once 9th planet of the Solar System. It’s objective is to observe it, study the surface and environment, and use its gravity as a speed boost to get to Kuiper Belt, where it will stay until 2020, recording all kinds of data.
