Charlene Wittstock & Prince Albert

What eventually became notoriously known as “Monaco’s biggest party in 55 years” — according to The Times of South Africa — was the spectacle of a wedding between Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert of Monaco. Before their marriage, Charlene was already a woman of high accomplishment, including being a former Olympian swimmer for South Africa-Zimbabwe.

Their wedding took place in 2011, but it was on the backdrop of a swimming competition where the two actually met — in 2000 in Monaco, in which she was involved. As for Prince Albert II, he’s been the ruling monarch for the principality of Monaco since 2005 and is 20 years older than Charlene, too.
