Padma Lakshmi & Salman Rushdie

Padma and Salman were married for three years before she left him for what she summed up to be “unflattering behavior”. They began their relationship when Rushdie wooed her during a serious illness but later seemed disinterested in her after she began finding success of her own as a model.

She found that she had more value in herself than he ever did. To Rushdie, it was just the idea of having a wife beside him at his beck and call that made him happy rather than a life partner with a mind of her own. Good for Padma, she smartened up and saw that she could do better on her own.
