11. The light is intentionally turned off

During takeoff and landing, the passenger cabin lights will usually be dimmed. This is a deliberate move to make the passengers get used to the dark. In case of an emergency the passengers will also be able to see the different emergency exit signs with more clarity.

In some cases though, some of the crew claim that this is a way of saving energy.
