One of the first known civilizations in the world, China covers a vast land area and has some 5000 of years of rich history.  The country is divided into a total of 32 regions and contains some of the most spectacular structures and scenery on the planet.

1. Leshan Giant Buddha, Sichuan Province

The Leshan Giant Buddha is the tallest and largest in the world at 71 meters (233 feet tall). Constructed of this statue of Maitreya began in 713 and finished in 803. Carved into a sandstone cliff face, the statue is in the Mount Emei scenic area in the Sichuan Province in China. The rivers Min, Qingyi, and Dadu meet and flow beneath the feet of the statue. You can reach the Buddha by boat, train or bus.
