It wasn’t always smooth sailing for these two, there was some trouble in paradise from the start. There are quite a few examples of Charles’s hesitation with his marriage to Diana. For example, when their engagement was confirmed in 1981, a reporter asked the two if they were in love. Diana said, “Of course,” while Charles said, “Whatever ‘in love’ means.”
